Kevin Ward, Mayor of Hyattsville, Maryland, Dies by Suicide

The mayor of a Maryland town has died by suicide. Kevin Ward was elected mayor of Hyattsville, Maryland, in May 2021, after serving two terms on the Washington DC commuter town’s city council. United States Park Police found Mayor Ward’s body in Virginia’s Fort Marcy Park, about 20 miles away from Hyattsville. The city says he died “January 25 from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.” Kevin Ward was 44 years old.
