Las Vegas Celebrates City’s Reopening With Countdown to End of Casino Closures

Las Vegas is reopening, and to celebrate, they did a New Years Eve-style countdown. Hundreds of people lined up outside casinos, and when the clock struck 12:01am, there were virtual fireworks and cheers, with the crowd chanting along “We love Vegas.” While people’s temperatures were being taken upon entry, large crowds partied into the wee hours of the morning with very little social distancing. As the city prepped to reopen, an earthquake rocked the Mojave Desert 153 miles away.
