Lisa Montgomery Execution Criticized As Lawyers Plead She’s Mentally Incompetent

January 13, 2021

Lisa Montgomery has become the first woman in 67 years to be executed by the federal government. In a controversial decision made in the 11th hour by the Supreme Court, Montgomery was put to death early Wednesday morning, despite pleas from her lawyers that she was mentally incompetent and a victim of “sexual torture” herself. In 2004, Montgomery strangled a woman who was 8 months pregnant and cut her unborn baby from womb. The child survived and is now 16 years old.
