Los Angeles Remembers 1992 Rodney King Verdict and What Followed
It has been exactly three decades since four white police officers were declared innocent in the beating of Black motorist Rodney King, and Los Angeles erupted in deadly riots. A bystander videotaped the beating, which was the touchstone for one of the most destructive race riots in the nation's history. Three decades later, Los Angeles mayor Eric Garcetti and a racial cross-section of community leaders gathered to mark the event. Inside Edition Digital’s Stephanie Officer explains.
