When Gabe Castellanos, 38, saw a dog struggling in New York's East River, he didn't hesitate. He left his own birthday party, stripped down to his underwear and jumped into the water to save the animal. The frightened dog, whose name is Harper, bit him on the hand and face, but he ignored the blood and kept swimming to shore, pushing the dog the entire way. The successful rescue was caught on camera. Castellanos said he called upon ocean survival skills he learned in college.
