Women celebrated in the streets of Mexico after the country’s Supreme Court declared that federal criminal penalties for abortion were unconstitutional. It’s been a long, hard-fought battle for abortion rights activists. Abortion rights have been expanding in Latin America. While 20 states in Mexico will still have laws against abortion, activists say this ruling is still a victory. Anti-abortion activists vow to fight back.
