April 12, 2021

A Minneapolis police officer fatally shot 20-year-old Daunte Wright during a traffic stop Sunday afternoon. Wright was reportedly pulled over for a traffic violation and officers discovered an "outstanding warrant," police said. When they tried to arrest him, police say he tried to get back into his car. An officer shot Wright, who drove a few blocks before colliding with another car. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Protests erupted that evening miles from where Derek Chauvin is on trial.
