New Dad of Baby Born Outside Hospital Uses Mask to Tie Umbilical Cord

A face mask helped a Kentucky family during the COVID pandemic, but not in the way you’d expect. Sarah Rose Patrick went into labor a week early and knew she needed to get to the hospital, so she and her husband, David Patrick, drove to Baptist Health Louisville. They arrived to find the doors to the delivery ward locked, and before they could get to the E.R., Sarah’s water broke. She gave birth to their son in the street, and when they had to tie the umbilical cord, the face mask did the trick.
