New ‘Spider-Man’ Movie Set to Have Biggest Opening of Pandemic

The new Spider-Man film is giving fans a reason to head back to the movies, even in a pandemic. With strong pre-sales, “Spider-Man: No Way Home” is on track to have the biggest opening of any film in the pandemic. Fandango correspondent Nikki Novack cited Spider-Man’s universal appeal and high popularity with the under-25 crowd as drivers for ticket sales. “West Side Story” was expected to be a big draw, but fell flat on opening weekend. Novak said musicals tend to “do well over a span of time.”
