One Person Sent to the Hospital After Fire at Illinois Metal Recycling Plant

A five-alarm fire exploded at a warehouse in Madison County, Illinois. This building housed Interco, a metal and battery recycling factory. According to the company, it is “one of the largest indoor, nonferrous metal recycling facilities in North America,” with over 400,000 square feet spaced over 5 buildings. It took over 200 first responders to combat the blaze. One person was reportedly burned and sent to the hospital for their injuries.
