Paleontologists Discover New Giant Dinosaur Species in Chile’s Atacama Region

Paleontologists in Chile announced the discovery of a new species of giant dinosaur. The fossilized bones were originally unearthed in the 1990s, in the arid Atacama region. Scientists have determined that the fossils they found were from an animal that was part of the Titanosaur family, but features in its dorsal vertebrae make this one a unique species. The new dino’s name is Arackar licanantay, which translates to Atacamian bones in the extinct Kunza language.
