Parents Investigated For Neglect After Letting Child, 6, Go To Park

    January 30, 2026

A 6-year-old got his parents permission to ride his scooter alone and go to the playground. His parents say a stranger in a car stopped to ask the boy questions, including where he lived. Inside Edition's Eva Pilgrim spoke to the mom and dad, Mallerie Shirley and Christopher Pleasants. The allegations against the parents were found to be unsubstantiated.
