Parents Investigated For Neglect After Letting Child, 6, Go To Park
January 30, 2026
A 6-year-old got his parents permission to ride his scooter alone and go to the playground. His parents say a stranger in a car stopped to ask the boy questions, including where he lived. Two days later, the parents got a visit from a child welfare worker. They say they were told someone complained their son was on the scooter unsupervised and that it was a "regular occurrence." Inside Edition's Eva Pilgrim spoke to the mom and dad, Mallerie Shirley and Christopher Pleasants. The allegations against the parents were found to be unsubstantiated.
