Philip Roth, Celebrated American Novelist, Dies at 85

Legendary novelist Philip Roth has died of congestive heart failure at a New York City hospital. The author, who hailed from Newark, N.J., was famous for writing about sex, death, Jewish identity and fate. He penned more than 25 books, including "American Pastoral." He was regarded by the literary world as both prolific and controversial. Philip Roth was 85 years old.
