July 1, 2021

A priceless Picasso painting was found after being stolen nine years ago. Authorities say a man confessed to breaking into Greece’s National Gallery in 2012, and stealing a painting by Pablo Picasso and another by Dutch painter Piet Mondrian. The paintings were found in a wooded area outside of Athens, wrapped in a bag underneath bushes. The Picasso, called “Head of a Woman,” was a personal gift to Greece in 1949, to honor their resistance to Nazi rule during World War II.
