Police Escort Truckloads of Avocados Through Mexico to US Ahead of Super Bowl

These officers are in the middle of a police escort, but they’re not guarding a VIP or a shipment of cash. They’re protecting trucks full of avocados. That’s because this stretch of highway in Mexico has become quite dangerous, with criminal activity in pursuit of avocados destined for the U.S. Avocados can sell for up to $2.50 in the U.S., that means a truckload could be worth $100,000.
