Police Officer Adopts Puppy Abandoned In Trash Compactor

A dog was abandoned and left to die in a trash compactor. It happened outside a Los Angeles church. Police say the puppy had been dropped into a trash compactor that automatically crushed its contents to make room for more garbage. A passerby reported hearing whimpering coming from inside the trash can. Sgt Nick Beerling arrived just in time. The 18-year veteran of the Gardena Police Department named the pup "Norm," after the street where he was found.
