A powerful earthquake in far eastern Russia triggered tsunami waves and warnings thousands of miles away. The quake, centered near the Kamchatka Peninsula, measured 8.8, tying the record for the 6th most powerful earthquake ever recorded. Japan's island of Hokkaido was among the first to be hit by tsunami waves. Further east, Hawaii went into high alert. And tsunami waves over 3-feet high hit Crescent City, along the Oregon and California border.
