Public Official Refuses to Call Black Woman ‘Doctor,’ Despite Her Correcting Him

A Greensboro, North Carolina zoning commissioner who refused to use a woman’s correct title while addressing her during a Zoom meeting has been removed from the Zoning Commission by the City Council. In a video of the meeting with city officials, Tony Collins kept referring to Dr. Carrie Rosario as “Mrs. Rosario,” despite the fact that Rosario corrected him several times. Rosario, an associate professor at University of North Carolina at Greensboro, spoke about the exchange with Inside Edition.
