Abercrombie & Fitch, the retailer known for its shirtless security guards, was a cultural phenomenon, selling not just clothes, but a lifestyle. To work in their stores, you had to be young and good looking — as defined by their appearance standards. But the billion-dollar brand eventually crashed and burned after several former employees sued the company for racial discrimination, and won a $40 million settlement. “White Hot,” a new documentary about the brand’s downfall, is now on Netflix.
