Jackson spent his life fighting racial injustice and was there when Martin Luther King Jr. was assassinated. In 1990, Jackson went to Iraq to free hundreds of American hostages. Inside Edition cameras followed Jackson's trip at the outbreak of the Gulf War. King's eldest son called Jackson "a towering voice and devoted servant of justice."
