Results of New York City Subways Swabbed for COVID-19

New York City’s subway has closed for four hours every night since May 6 to do deep cleaning amid the pandemic. It’s the first time there's been a complete shutdown of 24-hour service since the subway opened in 1904. As commuters return to mass transit to get to work, many are wondering, is it safe? Wearing protective gear, Inside Edition producers carefully collected 32 samples from surfaces inside subway cars across the city. Lab tests revealed that none of the samples were COVID-19 positive.
