‘Rust’ AD’s Lawyer Says He Wasn’t Responsible for Checking Gun

A lawyer for “Rust” assistant director Dave Halls is defending him over allegations that it was her client’s responsibility to check the gun that fired the fatal shot on set, killing cinematographer Halyna Hutchins and wounding director Joel Souza. Her claim appears to contradict Hall’s previous statement to detectives that he “should have checked all of them,” referring to the chambers of the Colt 45 revolver, before handing the gun to Alec Baldwin.
