Scientists Say a New Malaria Vaccine Could Save Children’s Lives

Malaria is a mosquito-borne disease that kills hundreds of thousands of children each year. A new vaccine could lessen that number. The R21 vaccine has been given to 4,000 infants. Researchers from Oxford University say, the stage 2 and 3 trials have proven a 75% effectiveness rate since 2019. The latest data from the World Health Organization say 247 million people contracted malaria in 2021. About 619,000 of those infected died.
