Shoe Store Owner Allegedly Shot at Shoplifters, Hit 9-Year-Old Girl Instead

The person who allegedly shot a 9-year-old girl in a California shopping mall has been arrested. Police say the co-owner of a sneaker store was the person who fired the gun. According to authorities, Marquel Cockrell chased two shoplifters out of his store around 6:30 p.m. Tuesday. Cockrell allegedly “fired multiple shots at the shoplifters,” but missed, hitting the little girl who was waiting in line for pictures with the Easter Bunny, Victorville Police said in a statement.
