Shortage of 911 Operators Due to Low Pay and Stress Could Cost Lives

A shortage of 911 operators is leaving people calling for help stranded on hold. Fueled by burn-out, stress, and low pay, the shortage of emergency responders is causing some people with nowhere to turn when calling 911. Daniel Grossman says he was put on hold for more than two minutes after calling 911 over a road-rage incident in Atlanta. Emergency calls are supposed to be answered within 10 to 15 seconds.
