Slain Rookie New York Cop Gets Hero’s Funeral at St. Patrick’s Cathedral

A remarkable sight — a sea of blue outside St Patrick’s Cathedral in New York City as police and citizens come together to mourn a fallen cop. The entire city was invited to pay respects to 22-year-old rookie Jason Rivera. No one moved the packed cathedral more than Rivera’s grieving widow, Dominique. The high school sweethearts had married just four months ago. Rivera’s brother Jeffrey also struggled to contain his emotions. Rivera was promoted posthumously to detective first grade.
