Surviving Alice in Wonderland Syndrome, A Rare, Terrifying Brain Disorder
Imagine feeling your body growing at a dizzying pace, so much so that you now fill an entire room -- or suddenly seeing yourself from outside your own body -- or watching your hand grow ever larger, until it is nearly as big as yourself. This is reality for sufferers of Alice in Wonderland Syndrome, a terrifying and rare neurological disorder named after Lewis Carroll's classic children's book. Little understood for decades, the disturbing disorder is now receiving greater insight. But it still elicits great fear. "I thought I was going crazy," says Alicia Wolf, a survivor and advocate for those afflicted. "Why do I feel insane? Why is everyone telling me I'm normal?"
Inside Edition Digital's Deborah Hastings talks to survivors of the syndrome and a neurologist who specializes in treating it and other brain issues.
