These Buffalo Face-Off to Make It Across the Finish Line
July 14, 2019
It’s off to the races for these buffalo. Usually they spend their time plowing fields in Chonburi, Thailand. But for one special day, farmers race their animals through wet rice fields, as part of a beloved local tradition. Farmers say getting the animals into shape is no easy feat, having to train with them for hours on end. “You have to whip them as much as you could to make them go fast, otherwise you could lose. The more you whip them, the faster they go,” race competitor Suchai Saengdee told The Washington Post. In this case, 60 buffalo entered, but only one could prevail.
