UMass Amherst Gives Student $10K After Basketball Event Sponsor Denies Him Award

At a half-time contest at a UMass Amherst basketball game, it looked like student Noah Lee won a $10,000 contest. Lee says he was later informed that his foot was on the line in the last half-court shot instead of behind the line. That was enough for the event's sponsors to refuse to pay the $10,000. However, the college says "we weren’t satisfied with that outcome and arrived at the decision to provide Noah with a $10,000 award."
