UPenn Student Killed in California Because of Sexual Orientation: Police

An Orange County District Attorney now says Blaze Bernstein's death was in fact the result of a hate crime. Court documents say Bernstein was stabbed 20 times before being buried in a park. Police say the man suspected of killing Bernstein was his friend, Sam Woodward who, according to police, was the last person to see the teen alive. In addition to being charged with Bernstein's murder, Woodward faces a hate crime enhancement. If convicted, Woodward could spend the rest of his life in prison.
