Why Scott Peterson Could Be Released From Prison

Two months after his capital murder sentence was overturned by the California Supreme Court, Scott Peterson will again face the death penalty as he is resentenced, prosecutors said Friday. Sixteen years ago, Peterson was convicted of killing his pregnant wife, Laci Peterson, in a trial that riveted the nation. The case was reopened earlier this year after the court ruled that one of the jurors had committed “prejudicial misconduct.” Now it’s possible that Peterson may get an entire new trial.
