Why Women May Be Especially Vulnerable to Binge Drinking in Lockdown

Just about every night since the pandemic began, Sherita Rankins has enjoyed a glass of wine, or two, or three. Like many people, she says she started drinking more than usual to cope with the lockdown. Without a commute or early morning meetings to get to, she said she started getting a bit more liberal with her pours, and soon found she was drinking three to five bottles of wine a week. Addiction specialist Lin Sternlicht says the pandemic has created a perfect storm for women.
