Witnesses Describe TWA Flight 800 Crash in 1996: ‘A Huge, Huge Fireball’

A routine flight from New York City to Paris turned into a night of horror when TWA Flight 800 crashed over Long Island 23 years ago. All 230 people on board the aircraft perished. Officials said the probable cause of the crash was a design flaw in the fuel tank. Following the tragedy, eyewitnesses shared their accounts. Among the victims was activist Pam Lychner. Years earlier, she had spoken to Inside Edition about fighting for victims’ rights after surviving a sexual assault in 1990.
