Women Break World Record Rowing From San Francisco to Honolulu in 35-Day Adventure
An all-women's row team made history traveling 2,400 nautical miles across the Pacific Ocean. The milestone breaks a women's team record, completing the trip in 34 days, 14 hours and 11 minutes. It was a daunting ordeal as members Adrienne Smith, Libby Costello, Sophia Denison-Johnston and Brooke Downes rowed day and night in two-hour shifts. They say they were inspired to continue because of encouraging messages from fans tracking their progress online.
