Woody Allen’s Ex Says She Was Inspiration for ‘Manhattan’ About Man’s Teen Lover

Christina Engelhardt was just 16 years old when she met Woody Allen at a New York restaurant. The director was 41 years old when “he wouldn’t stop staring” at her, Christina says, and thus began an 8-year sexual relationship with Allen. Not only was the relationship illegal, as Christina was under the age of consent, she says that she doesn’t think it’s possible for a teen to be in a consensual relationship with a man 25 years her senior. She says that Allen’s film “Manhattan” was clearly based on her.
