Across the nation, health officials are seeing a sharp drop in vaccinations, down 9% just this week. Two months ago, people lined up for hours in hopes of scoring a shot, but now, many super sites and pharmacies have hundreds of thousands of appointments sitting vacant. Demand has dropped so much that some states have allowed older people to get walk-in doses without appointments. Businesses and municipalities are looking for ways to incentivize vaccination, such as giving away Girl Scout cookies.
