Melania Trump Rings in the New Year With a Sparkly Selfie
A boy believed to be her son, Barron, can be seen by first lady Melania Trump's side.
Melania Trump rang in the new year with a rare selfie.
In a photo post to social media on Jan. 1, the first lady could be seen beaming alongside a boy believed to be her son, 12-year-old Barron. The boy’s face was cut off by the image.
She was hosting the annual New Year’s Eve ball at Mar-a-Lago without her husband, President Trump. Other social media posts captured the first lady grinning with guests in a slinky black gown by Stella McCartney.
An Instagram video also showed Barron smiling in his tuxedo. Model Amanda Ungaro, the wife of a United Nations ambassador, posted the video to her Instagram Stories.
The president was forced to cancel his trip to his resort in Palm Beach because of the ongoing government shutdown. He posted a video on New Year’s Eve saying 2018 was a year of “accomplishments.”
"While I'm at the White House working, you're out there partying tonight. But I don't blame you. Enjoy yourselves. We're going to have a great year. Have a really, really Happy New Year,” he said.
Trump was on Twitter through the holiday, slamming Democrats for holding up funding for the border wall and blaming them for the government shutdown.
