Four Michigan girls were able to escape a man who tried to kidnap them by throwing coffee at him, as well as punching and kicking him, police said.

The children, ranging in age from 11 to 14, were walking from a convenience store, where they had stopped to get drinks and snacks, when a man grabbed the youngest, clamping his hand over her mouth and trying to drag her away, authorities said.

"You're coming with me," he told her, according to the girls.

That's when the girl's 14-year-old sister and the two other girls jumped into action.

"I grabbed my drink and chucked it at his head," Allison Eickhoff told WJRT-TV. "I punched him in the head." Then he lunged at Allison.

The girls screamed and kicked and fought until the man finally let go and ran off, police said. The girls rushed to a nearby restaurant, where employees called police.

A short distance away, Millington police officers picked up Bruce Hipkins, 22, who was walking along a road. Hipkins was charged with unlawful imprisonment, assault and battery, and two counts of criminal sexual conduct.

He is being held in lieu of $250,000 bail at the Tuscola County Jail. He has not entered a plea.

Chief Jason Oliver said the girls thought fast and did the right thing by fighting back.

"We have a summer festival going on," Oliver told InsideEdition.com Tuesday. "The girls went, but it was closed, so they went to get drinks on the way home."

The sisters' dad, Aaron Eickhart, rushed to the restaurant after being called by his daughters. He was extremely upset. "Rage," he said when asked about his reaction.

"As a father, rage. You don't want to see anything like this ever, and you never expect it to happen," he told WNEM-TV.
