Mother Lets Out Ear-Splitting Scream as Deployed Son Surprises Her

"I literally thought I was going to have a heart attack," Rekita Lee told InsideEdition.com.

A Florida mother let out a shriek of delight when she saw her son, who was deployed with the Marine Corps, who had just returned home for the holidays.

When Rekita Lee of Daytona Beach got home last week, she had no idea her son, Tre’Vaughn Lee, 20, would be waiting there to surprise her.

The mother-son pair had not seen each other since Tre’Vaughn was sent to Japan with the Marine Corps more than a year ago.

“I was totally surprised,” Rekita told InsideEdition.com. “I have never been surprised in my life because I’m nosy. I literally thought I was going to have a heart attack.”

Rekita's friends filmed her reaction as she embraced her son and screamed out of pure shock.

She explained she was having an especially rough couple of weeks since her entire family had traveled to Japan the month before to visit her son. She and her other son, who is 15 years old and has special needs, were not able to make the journey.

To throw his mom off, Tre’Vaughn told Rekita he was on his way to receive special training for his next deployment in South Korea.

Little did Rekita know, her family and friends had been planning the surprise since the summer.

Tre’Vaughn now plans to spend quality time with his family before he returns to deployment in December.
