As Nikki Haley Resigns as U.N. Ambassador, Will Ivanka Trump Take Her Place?

Playing Will Ivanka Trump Replace Nikki Haley as UN Ambassador?

After U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley announced her resignation Tuesday, many have been quick to suggest the president’s daughter fill the role.

Ivanka Trump was seen standing behind photographers in the Oval Office as her father shook hands with Haley.

Haley posed for a photo with Ivanka and her husband, Jared Kushner, and went out of her way to praise them during her sudden resignation announcement, saying, “I can't say enough good things about Jared and Ivanka."

As a result, social media lit up with suggestions that Ivanka would be the one to take on the position.

"Trump should replace Nikki Haley with Ivanka," tweeted conservative commentator Ann Coulter.

“Make way for Ivanka,” added "Morning Joe" co-host Mika Brezinski.

Others are more critical, saying: “If we get Ivanka in the U.N., heads will explode.”

Haley was viewed as a foreign policy moderate. Despite Tuesday's announcement, she intends to remain in the role until the end of the year.

Another leading candidate to replace Haley is Dina Powell, a former deputy national security adviser to President Trump and friend of Kushner and Ivanka.
