North Carolina Man Wins $1 Million After Playing the Same Numbers for 27 Years
His persistence paid off.
If at first you don’t succeed, try again.
It's a motto that finally paid off for a North Carolina man who won a $1 million Powerball prize.
Benjamin Sinclair, of Winston-Salem, had been playing his “special numbers” for 27 years in an effort to win. His patience paid off when he won the jackpot after the Oct. 27 drawing.
"I only play when the jackpot gets above a certain amount," Sinclair said. "I knew it was a long shot, but I still used the same numbers."
Sinclair said he was shocked to see his numbers, 08-12-13-19-27, were a match. He did not match the Powerball 4, however.
"I had to look at the numbers several times to make sure," Sinclair said. "It feels great to win."
Sinclair took home a $705,011 lump sum.
