KTVI reported that Darius Hinkle had to rush his 1-year-old daughter to the emergency room because she was choking on a penny. During the speed transport, he reportedly broke several traffic laws.
"The first thing in my mind was to get her to the hospital," Hinkle told the station.
By the time he arrived at Touchette Regional Hospital in Centreville, Hinkle said, several officers were following him.
The worried dad was taken into custody at the hospital, and the nurses reportedly couldn't ignore his dedication to his little girl.
The girl's mother went to the jail to pick up her child's father, but the nurses had beat her to it. Another woman the mom didn't recognize was reportedly there to bond out Hinkle — a group of nurses had chipped in to pay for his bail.
"I can't thank them enough," Hinkle told KTVI.
