The boys were assigned by their custodian, who's a veteran, to take down the flag.

A photo of three fifth-grade boys taking down a flag in front of their school went viral for its show of patriotism.

Amanda Reallan, of Idaho, told InsideEdition.com she was waiting to pick up her kids from school at Hayden Meadows Elementary when she saw one of the boys lay on the ground as two others were folding it.

“It was a beautiful act patriotism,” Reallan said. “I was like 'wow that was just amazing.’ I don’t even know these boys honestly.”

The boys were reportedly chosen by the school’s custodian, an Air Force veteran, to put up and take down the flag. The custodian, Mac Marty, showed the boys how to properly fold and store it.

Naylan Tuttle, Jack LeBreck, and Casey Dolan told KHQ they understood the importance of handling the flag with care.

"This is our nation's flag, this is our school's flag, it's how we represent our country," LeBreck said. "If you let it touch the ground then you disrespect our country is what I heard."
