Photographer Dad Poses Family in 'Star Wars'-Themed Holiday Cards
“We’re huge Star Wars fans,” Josh Rossi said.
May the holidays be with you.
Like many dads, photographer Josh Rossi wanted to put together a series of Christmas cards featuring his family.
Except it seems his anticipation for Star Wars: The Last Jedi, which hits theaters later this month, took precedent during the photo shoot.
“We’re huge Star Wars fans,” Rossi admitted in an interview with InsideEdition.com. “It started when I was a kid. I just loved Star Wars. I played Star Wars games with my friends. We nerded out big time.”
Rossi, starring as Luke, recruited his wife Roxana as Princess Leia, his 3-year-old daughter Nellee as Rey and his 1-year-old son Josh Jr. as Kylo Ren.
However, when he pitched the idea to his family, they were less excited than he had hoped.
“I assumed my wife was a huge Star Wars fan [but] she had no clue what I was talking about,” he said. “She’s like, ‘I’ve never seen a Star Wars movie before. I’ve been married for five years and I had no idea.”
But on the big day of the shoot, Roxana had studied up on her Star Wars trivia and lived up to her role.
Nellee, who is a familiar face on Rossi’s shoots, also grew into her role as Rey when it was her turn to take the spotlight.
“In the past, I would have to pose my daughter a lot and move her arm and it was really hard to get her into poses,” Rossi said. “This shoot, she was all for it. She put on the costume, she stood in front of the camera and was like, ‘Let’s go.’”
To get their 1-year-old to pose, Rossi said, took a little more cunning, like attaching snacks to the light saber to get him to pay attention.
“My evil goals are being accomplished,” Rossi joked.
He said the family is now looking forward to seeing the new movie together and getting cozy for the holidays.
