Pro-Wrestling Legend Johnny Valiant Struck and Killed by Truck While Crossing Street
Johnny Valiant is in the WWE Hall of Fame and later managed other greats like Hulk Hogan.
Pro-wrestling legend Johnny Valiant is dead after he was hit by a vehicle while crossing a street outside Pittsburgh Wednesday.
The WWE Hall of Famer, born Tommy Sullivan, was walking in Ross Township when he was struck by a pickup truck, TMZ reported.
He was 71.
"WWE is saddened to learn that WWE Hall of Famer "Luscious" Johnny Valiant reportedly passed away this morning at the age of 71," the wrestling organization said in a statement.
Valiant began his sports-entertainment career in 1969 in the Detroit territory owned by WWE Hall of Famer The Sheik.
"After learning the basics in the Motor City, he spent years competing in more than 20 territories across North America, including WWE," the statement reads.
He would go on to win two World Tag Team Championships and become manager for wrestling legends including Hulk Hogan, Brutus "The Barber" Beefcake, Dino Bravo and Demolition.
"WWE extends its condolences to Valiant's family, friends and fans," the organization said.
