Redmond O'Neal has struggled with drug abuse over the years.
Redmond O'Neal has been arrested for allegedly holding up a California convenience store at knifepoint.
The LAPD says O'Neal, the son of late actress Farrah Fawcett and actor Ryan O'Neal, was arrested Tuesday after they responded to calls about an armed robbery.
LAPD officer Rosario Herrera told USA TODAY the clerk gave O'Neal money from the register and O'Neal then fled.
Police say O'Neal was later found on the street carrying cash and a knife.
He was arrested and held on $50,000 bail.
O'Neal has made headlines over the years, mostly for his reported struggle with drug addiction.
The 33-year-old was jailed most recently in 2015 after violating the terms of a 2012 probation sentence related to drug charges.
He was sentenced to three years, but was released serving out that sentence.
