Royal Wedding: Why Meghan Markle Will Not Have a Maid of Honor as She Weds Prince Harry

It's among the many royal wedding details that have been revealed by Kensington Palace.

Meghan Markle will not have a maid of honor during her May 19 wedding to Prince Harry, it has been revealed.

Apparently, she did not want play favorites among her close friends.

Prince William will serve as best man to his brother, as previously reported.

It has also been revealed that the wedding ceremony will also pay tribute to Harry’s mother, the late Princess Diana.

“Prince Harry is also keen to involve his mother's family in his wedding. All three siblings of Diana, Princess of Wales, will be in attendance and Lady Jane Fellowes will give the reading," Kensington Palace said in a statement Friday. “Prince Harry and Ms. Markle both feel honored that Lady Jane will be representing her family and helping to celebrate the memory of the late princess on the wedding day."

Princess Charlotte and Prince George are expected to be part of the wedding party as a flower girl and page boy, respectively.

The latest news comes as Meghan Markle’s father, Thomas Markle, will walk his daughter down the aisle, according to the palace, and her mother, Doria Ragland, will accompany her to the chapel.

Meghan is the only daughter of Ragland, who was married to Thomas Markle before divorcing when Meghan was 6. Meghan lived with her mother, but saw her father regularly.

Ragland resides in Los Angeles. Thomas Markle lives in Mexico.

The former “Suits” actress' parents will arrive in England the week of the wedding to meet the queen, Prince Charles and other members of the royal family.

Before they meet the queen, they will be shown how to bow, curtsy, and finish eating when her royal highness is done with her meal.

It will also be the first time Prince Harry will meet the father of his bride-to-be.

Thomas Markle has been preparing for the big day by getting in shape with the help of a stationary bike and power walking with hand weights.

The 73-year-old, who lives a reclusive life in Mexico, has also been spotted reading up on English landmarks.
