Serena Williams Thanks 'Great Friend' Meghan Markle for Wimbledon Support

The tennis star and former actress first met in 2010.
Even though Serena Williams lost in the Wimbledon women's singles final on Saturday, she was thankful to have the support of her "great friend" Meghan Markle.
After the 37-year-old athlete was defeated, she told reporters that having the Duchess of Sussex there was "great."
“She’s such a great friend and a great person as well. And always positive, no matter what," Williams said. “It’s so good to have people like that, just to know."
The championship title was claimed by Romania’s Simona Halep, and Williams said Meghan was happy for her as well.
“She saw that she played unbelievably, and that’s just the kind of person that she is," Williams said.
Meghan attended the final match with sister-in-law Kate Middleton.
The tennis star and former actress first met in 2010. Williams and her husband attended Meghan's royal wedding to Prince Harry, and she helped throw a baby shower for Meghan earlier this year in New York City.
