A teenage girl died after falling from a fire escape during a party in a Manhattan apartment building, according to reports.
The 15-year-old girl was reportedly trying to retrieve her cellphone from a locked room when she went out onto a fifth-floor fire escape of a building on Reade Street about 11 p.m. Sunday, police sources told the New York Daily News.
The girl was trying to enter the room through a window when she slipped and fell, landing on her back on the sidewalk, the News reported.
Emergency responders rushed her to Bellevue Hospital Center, but she could not be saved.
