Texas Toddler Dies in Mom's Arms After She's Attacked by Family Dog

The dog had reportedly never before shown signs of aggressive behavior.
A Texas toddler died in her mother’s hands after she was reportedly attacked by the family dog.
The 2-year-old girl, Denali Gonzalez, died on Oct. 12 after the unexpected attack, according to a GoFundMe page established for the family.
Denali had been playing outside with the dog at about 5 p.m. When a family member went to check on her, they found the dog had attacked, reports said.
Several attempts were made to revive the toddler but she passed away in her mother’s arms while waiting for the ambulance.
The dog, a mixed-breed, has since been euthanized and had not shown signs of aggression before, according to reports.
“There’s nothing the family could have done,” said Lt. Varon Snelgrove of the Brazoria’s County Sheriff's Office. “It’s just a horrific, horrific incident.”
The GoFundMe campaign, which is dedicated to easing the cost of funeral expenses, has so far raised more than $5,000.
